AmeriNet Teams with Coalition for
Healthcare eStandards
ST. LOUIS, MO - MARCH 15, 2002 - AmeriNet, Inc., the nation’s
largest membership-based healthcare group purchasing
organization, has announced its alliance with the Coalition for
Healthcare eStandards (CHeS). Coalition efforts are geared
toward creating industry-wide e-commerce standards and
accelerating the acceptance of those standards.
Formed in June 2000 through the efforts of
several leading healthcare group purchasing organizations and
e-commerce companies, CHeS remains focused on developing and
maintaining consistent data standards throughout the industry.
These consistent standards will help ensure that e-commerce
initiatives deliver on their promise of increased cost-savings
and efficiency. To that aim, AmeriNet joins CHeS, along side
such organizations as Global Healthcare Exchange LLC,
HealthNexis, Novation and Premier, as a core member and a
member of the Board of Directors.
ìWe have been pleased with the
evolution of this organization and the development of clear
goals and objectives,î said Robert ìBudî
Bowen, AmeriNet President. ìCHeS has focused on gaining
industry-wide acceptance of existing e-business standards by
all industry stakeholders, GPOs, suppliers, healthcare
providers and e-commerce companies. We believe the Coalition
can be a very viable, very effective body in achieving this
goal.î
With the addition of AmeriNet to it’s
roster of members, CHeS now represents many of the key players
in the GPO industry, a fact that has not been lost on Bowen.
ìGPOs have been at the forefront of the e-commerce
effort for several years now,î Bowen continued,
îand we feel that for a standards adoption body such as
the Coalition to succeed, it had to rely on the input and
strength of the key movers in that effort. With such a powerful
representation from our industry, we have confidence that the
goals and objectives of CHeS will be met.î
Also allied with CHeS, as core members in
the effort to develop uniform standards for Internet supply
chain transactions, are Consorta, MedCenterDirect.com,
medibuy.com, HealthNexis and Neoforma. For more information
