Global Healthcare Exchange Joins the
Coalition for Healthcare eStandards
WESTMINSTER, Colo. and ANN ARBOR,
Mich.-December 14, 2001-Global
Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX), which provides supply chain
solutions that create efficiencies for all participants, has
become the newest member of the Coalition for Healthcare
eStandards (CHeS), a group focused on creating and accelerating
the adoption of e-commerce standards.
The Coalition for Healthcare eStandards was
formed in June 2000 by leading healthcare group purchasing
organizations and e-commerce companies to ensure that multiple,
inconsistent data standards in the industry do not compromise
the cost savings promised by e-commerce. GHX has joined the
Coalition as a core member and serves on the Board of
Directors.
“In order for the healthcare supply
chain to realize efficiencies, all participants need to work
together. The Coalition provides an important forum for us to
work together to promote and implement industry-wide adoption
of supply chain standards,” said Mike Mahoney, President
of GHX. “We look forward to continuing work with some of
the industry’s largest e-commerce and group purchasing
organizations through CHeS.”
“GHX brings a critical mass of
manufacturers, distributors and providers together through its
exchange technology, and has a real understanding of the issues
and complexities involved in making e-commerce a reality for
the healthcare supply chain,” said Joe Pleasant, CHeS
Chairman of the Board and Chief Information Officer at Premier,
Inc. “GHX plays an important role in our development of
efficient interactions between healthcare trading
partners,” added John Burks, CHeS Board Treasurer and
Senior Vice President at Novation.
As part of GHX’s standards efforts,
the company has also partnered with the Health Industry
Business Communications Council (HIBCC) and the Emergency Care
Research Institute (ECRI).
