HealthNexis Joins The Coalition For
Healthcare eStandards
ANN ARBOR, Mich., April 30, 2001 - The Coalition for Healthcare eStandards,
a group focused on creating, driving and adopting e-commerce
standards, announced today that HealthNexis, formerly the New
Health Exchange, a provider of technology and information
solutions to the healthcare supply chain, has become its newest
member.
The Coalition for Healthcare eStandards was
formed in June 2000 by leading healthcare
group purchasing organizations and
e-commerce companies to ensure that the cost savings
promised by e-commerce will not be
compromised by multiple, inconsistent data standards
in the industry. HealthNexis has joined the
Coalition as a core member and serves on the
Board of Directors.
"HealthNexis and the Coalition share a
common goal - to develop and encourage adoption
of industry-wide, open data standards that
will help drive inefficiencies out of the healthcare supply
chain and deliver significant cost saving opportunities to all
healthcare industry participants," said David Hurley, CEO
of HealthNexis. "We are pleased to join the Coalition's
industry leading e-commerce and group purchasing organizations
in this important initiative."
"HealthNexis brings e-business
expertise and an understanding of the issues and complexities
involved in making e-commerce a reality for the healthcare
supply chain," said Joe Pleasant, Coalition Chairman of
the Board and Chief Information Officer at Premier.
"HealthNexis can help the Coalition both develop and drive
adoption of data standards that are the basis for more
efficient interactions between healthcare trading
partners," added John Burks, Coalition Board Treasurer and
Senior Vice President at Novation.
Founded by four of the nation's largest
healthcare companies - AmeriSource Health Corporation (NYSE:
AAS), Cardinal Health, Inc. (NYSE: CAH), Fisher Scientific
International Inc. (NYSE: FSH), and McKesson HBOC, Inc. (NYSE:
MCK) - HealthNexis provides infrastructure and technology
solutions that streamline the complex business processes
necessary to transmit, process, aggregate, verify and maintain
product and contract data. The company offers a single point of
access to an integrated set of products and services including
a Transaction Clearinghouse, Product Data Manager, Contract
Data Manager and Data Services. HealthNexis released its
Transaction Clearinghouse in March 2001. Its Product Data
Manager is scheduled for release in early June 2001.
