Hyperemesis Gravidarum - Morning Sickness
Debbie Said:
At 5 weeks pregnant how should you be feeling? We Answered:
Just consulted my pregnancy diary from when I had my daughter (who's now 3), and I was writing about sore boobs and feeling generally unwell. Lost appetite, could only drink orange juice for the weekend (this was when I did my test) that was at 6wks+4daysGeorge Said:
Questions about Hyperemesis Gravidarum, Does it last the whole pregnancy? I'm just wondering because...?We Answered:
Hyperemesis doesn't have to last for the whole pregnancy. It sounds like you had it, and you're probably lucky you survived it as well as you did! The sad part is if you had told your doctor, there's a real chance they could have given you medication to help with the nausea and made your life more liveable. I had hyperemesis with my 1st as well and I went to the hospital more than once because I was severely dehydrated so don't let it come to that point. Things you can do to help avoid morning sickness and hyperemesis include trying to keep your stomach from being empty. Starchy foods seem to stick good like white potatoes with no butter or toppings, rice, bread, and crackers. If you can get it down, try eating protien like nuts or whatever kind of meat you can handle. It's especially helpful to have a big dose of protien right before bed and then when you wake up have a big protien breakfast. It will help keep the nausea at bay. Avoid eggs though, those are about the worse things for nausea regardless. I also found that it helps to suck on hard candies. It may take awhile to find the right one, because it's different each time. One time is was cherry flavor, one time it was sour lemon, one time is was kiwi flavor and once it wasn't any sweet at all....I wish I had known about these the first time around as I could have at least tried something. Also ginger root capsules can be found in an pharmacy, chemist, or health food store. It's also great for taming the nausea. Good luck! The good news is it doesn't have to come back with each pregnancy. I've only had it with my first and gone on to have 6 more pregnancies(2 ended in miscarriage) and pregnant again without that severity. I've had morning sickness, but never hyperemesis again.Roland Said:
Has anyone suffered from excessive sickness during pregnancy? (more than once?)?We Answered:
I was in and out of the hospital with my first baby. I was sick up until the day I had him. And were not talking a little vomitting in the morning it was constant the whole time. I got pregnant with my daughter and year later and was petrified! I told my Husband I cant be sick like I was before, I just cant do it. I never got sick with her one time, not even nauseous! Every single pregnancy is different. We are currently trying for out 3rd and I still get a little scared about it, but I would do it all over again if I had to, to be able to hold that precious little baby at the end of it. Best of luck to you.Kent Said:

well even though u had a misscarraige (which im very sorry about that) your body is still changing back from the pregnancy. just like when u go full term and give birth... it takes a full year for ur body to get completely back to normal. so im not sure if its ur pills. but what u could do is ask ur doctor to give u a pill with lower esterigin. thats what i had to do to control my mood swings... hope this helps.Calvin Said:
Does Hyperemesis Gravidarum / Bicornuate Uterus cause miscarriage? We Answered:
I found out after my second baby was born too. I have had no trouble with miscarriages or anything but I have heard of some people who have had trouble conceiving or carrying babies. You should talk to your doctor and see what he has to say about it.Toni Said:

my complicated dilema...?We Answered:
I am sorry that you and your husband lost your first baby.. that must be a horrible experience.. I personally could never have children.. and that is not nice either if you ''can't have children and would like to'' so i understand what you must be going through.. but I believe you need to think about your own health first and foremost now.. and try to eat the foods that make you gain some weight.. in the right places by consulting a nutritionalist.. who will tell you exactly what is good to gain some weight without putting it on in the wrong places but to get overall stronger and healthier.. by eating healthy foods that will make you gain weight.. a nutritionalist can give you the best advice there.. I would definitely consult one.. and you will gain some weight by eating the right meals at the right times.. most likely eat more often and eat the right stuff, only a professional nutritionalist knows.. then your weight will be closer to ''normal'' and chances for you to conceive and for the baby to be healthy will increase.. Right now you are trying too hard, that is often putting extra stress on you and your husband. If you really want a baby so badly that you are not relaxed.. you think every time you and your husband make love .. that you hope you ''conceive'' and that takes the pleasure out of being intimate and puts more stress on both of you.. you should go to get advice from a nutritionalist about what foods to eat to gain some weight in a healthy way.. and not think every time you and your husband are intimate that ''to want a baby'' is the most important.. try to relax and it will happen more likely under those circumstances.. don't force it.. you can get pregnant, and your biological clock is not ''ticking until you get to age 40.. so just think about your health and enjoy being intimate with your husband without putting stress on both of you.. and if you are relaxed .. most likely you will conceive.. sooner or later.. I was never able to get pregnant.. and now at age 46 I don' think about it.. Instead my husband and I took the opportunity as we were not blessed to become parents, to move from Europe to Canada, something we could not have done if we had had children.. and we came to terms with it and we have a cat..At age 35 I gave up trying.. .. You need to gain some weight and get your own health back to as close to normal as possible and then just have a normal healthy sex life with your husband.. without just thinking about wanting a baby so badly.. stress can prevent you to get pregnant and also put stress on your husband.. Your time to be a mom will come.. if you take care of yourself and if you don't ''getting pregnant'' into the forefront of ''getting intimate with your husband'' It will happen in it's own good time.. most women fail to conceive if they put themselves under stress of desperately wanting to get pregnant.. once they relax or are on a holiday and don't think about ''wanting a baby'' all the time, often they do get pregnant...
