Low calorie diets are good but if you go under 1200 the problem is your using ketosis to lose the weight. Its when your body eats itself! Now when you eat normally again the 2nd generation of fat gain is even smarter and more efficient. In short term the low caloric diets seem like a wonder but in the long run you set yourself up for failure.

By restricting your calories, you are going to actually prevent yourself from losing weight. If you simply exercise daily and eat 1500 calories a day, you will lose the weight in about 5-6 months. Don't starve yourself to get thin...It won't work and you are not helping your body at all!

Correct. However, you must actually use all the carbohydrate for ketosis to occur first. If your carbohydrate intake is still above 50+ grams a day then this probably won't occur unless you work out a lot.
