sit down to eat--make it a real meal with time set aside. you'll eat slower, eat less, have time to make better food choices and enjoy your food more.

easiest and MOST important:
Write a food journal!
Use any notebook (better a small one so you can keep it with you and write things down all day) and write down EVERYthing that you eat how much. If you want to be really gung ho, you can add the calories and keep track with numbers but I find that maddening.
Just write down everything, including drinks. This will help you take a realistic inventory of what you're eating and when. Also write down what you're feeling when you eat, if you're an emotional eater. I promise this is immensely helpful. It really helps you stay on track, be focused and it doesn't allow you to cheat.
Which reminds me, don't starve yourself or deny yourself something you really want. Just go easy on the portions.
Craving chocolate cake? Take two or three (seriously) chocolate chips and put them in your mouth. Don't chew. Don't swallow. Just savor them til they're gone. You will be amazed at how satisfied your craving is by really tasting your food. And if you're really hungry, eat a small meal (meats, whole grain and veg) and then have a little candy to savor.

We Answered:

I have never been on a diet and I have never been fat. The food that I eat is pretty much the way of the South Beach Diet. I avoid putting on weight by eating a lot of seafood, snacking on fruits and veggies instead of candy and junk, and the biggest thing of all is I AVOID PROCESSED FOOD whenever I can! I use real butter instead of margarine, cook everything with olive oil instead of vegetable oil, buy whole grain bread (or wheat). I never starve myself and I eat as much as I feel like any time I want. I just choose to eat healthy food.

Snack ideas:
Apples with peanut butter
String cheese
Bread (carbs are not bad for you!!)
Oranges
Frozen fruit (I buy in bulk, mix together, and carry in tupperware)
Make your own Fruit-n-Yogurt parfaits: Add vanilla fat-free yogurt on top of some frozen strawberries and some granola cereal on top. Healthy and tasty.

Those are just a few ideas, but be more conscious of what you put in your body. As you begin to eat healthier foods, you will notice that your cravings for junk pretty much go away.

Another thing is that I don't eat a lot of meat. I think that really helps a lot. You rarely ever see a fat vegetarian.

When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don't eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It's not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

I am dibetic so I eat low carb I eat a little of everything, and eat small amounts I stay away from alot of bread potatoes rice sweets sugar drinks. Eat low carb vegetables and fruit. Chew gum when I want something sweet.Drink a cup of chicken soup with out noodles before meals to help fill full and drink water at least a full glass before a meal. I have lost weight. Cutting out bad carbs helps alot, and eating small amounts.

don't skip meals
eat every 3-4 hours
drink plenty of water 2-3 litre a day, avoid caffeine and sugar drinks (even 100% fruit juice as it cuts out the nutrients from the hard bits of the fruit)
2 serves of fruit, 4-6 serves of veg per day
skim milk, whole grain bread
avoid processed, high salt and high fat foods (e.g. take out)
exercise for at least 30 minutes a day (need to break a sweat)
don't keep unhealthy foods in the house, they are too tempting and if you are really hungry you are more likely to go for them
put your fork down in between bites, chew your food completely, take sips of water between bites that way you will realize you are full before you eat your entire meal
don't eat a whole meal from a restaurant, they are larger servings than you would have at home, try ordering an entree size
